Topic
The events that occurred in Ferguson, Mo., a year ago after the shooting death of unarmed teenager Michael Brown continue to capture the public’s attention and highlight the need for “courageous conversations” about race and equity in our country. At the Nashville Seminar last July, participants heard from educators on the frontline of the crisis in a powerful session that shared how they responded to keep students safe and learning. Here is another opportunity to continue the important conversation about how we can foster a deeper dialogue and build understanding about the societal gaps that affect all of us.
Panelists: Jonathan Smith, Ph.D., special assistant to the President, diversity and community engagement, St. Louis (Mo.) University; Scott Sprugeon, Ed.D., superintendent, and Melanie Powell-Robinson, director, communications, Riverview Gardens School District, St. Louis, Mo.
Moderator: Chris Tennill, APR, chief communications officer, School District of Clayton, Mo., and NSPRA South Central Region vice president
