2016 MinnSPRA Spring Conference
April 15, 2016 @ 7:45 am - 4:30 pm
$120 – $170.00“Equity and Diversity in School Communications:
Engaging Families. Leading Change.”
As Minnesota continues to undergo a profound demographic shift, issues of race, religion, gender and other differences persist in our schools and communities. As communications leaders, we must actively engage families from increasingly diverse backgrounds and help lead change in our organizations to ensure equity for all students.
Participants will learn about their unconscious bias, take part in a privilege walk activity and get actionable tips on how to embed equity in everything you do. A panel of Twin Cities television, radio and print journalists will also share their insights about covering these stories and how their newsrooms handle issues of equity and diversity in their coverage.
There will also be breakout sessions on gender equity, creating safe schools for Muslim students, parent engagement for diverse communities, and diverse communications toolkit. Join us for this day-long conversation and learning opportunity about equity and diversity.
Register by scrolling down to the bottom of this page by Friday, April 8 to receive the Early Bird price of $120 for MinnSPRA Members or $150 for non-members.
